About Digital Fibre Infrastructure Trust Digital Fibre Infrastructure Trust (DFIT) is an Infrastructure Investment Trust (InvIT) established by Reliance Industrial Investments and Holdings Limited (RIIHL) on January 31, 2019. It operates under the Indian Trusts Act, 1882, with Axis Trustee Services Limited serving as the Trustee. The management of DFIT is supported by Infinite India Investment Management Limited (IIIML) as the Investment Manager and Jio Infrastructure Management Services Limited (JIMSL) as the Project Manager. The Trust specializes in providing fibre infrastructure and related services across India.
DFIT primarily owns Jio Digital Fibre Private Limited (JDFPL), its Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV), which holds and operates a pan-India optic fibre cable network of approximately 30 million fibre pair kilometers. The acquired network includes inter-city or National Long Distance (NLD) coverage, intra-city connectivity, and Fibre to the Home (FTTH) services. JDFPL became part of the Trust upon the acquisition of a 51% equity stake on March 30, 2019, following the transfer of assets from Reliance Jio Infocomm Limited (RJIL).
Since its inception, DFIT has strategically raised capital to support its operations and growth. In September 2020, it raised Rs 14,706 crore through an initial offer of 147.06 crore units at Rs 100 per unit. A subsequent rights issue in December 2021 raised Rs 4,789 crore through 47.88 crore units issued to existing unitholders, increasing the total units to nearly 195 crore. These fundraising efforts underscore the trust's focus on long-term infrastructure development in India.
DFIT represents a critical player in India’s digital infrastructure landscape, leveraging its extensive optic fibre network to support nationwide connectivity. Its association with Reliance and adherence to InvIT regulations positions it as a stable and scalable investment opportunity in the infrastructure sector.
