About Davangere Sugar Company Ltd Davangere Sugar Company Ltd (DSCL), established in 1970, is a significant player in the Indian sugar industry, with a current cane-crushing capacity of 4,750 TCD. The company has a sugar production facility spanning approximately 2,83,874 square feet and operates five large warehouses with a storage capacity of 6 lakh quintals, facilitating efficient distribution. Despite early financial difficulties leading to its classification as a sick unit in 1986-87, DSCL recovered after restructuring and emerged from BIFR in 1996 under new management by the Shamanur group.
The company has consistently expanded its operations, notably installing a 24.5 MW cogeneration unit in 2003, which was completed in record time. Further capacity expansions occurred between 2006 and 2012. In 2022, DSCL diversified its product offerings by establishing an ethanol production unit with a 65 KLPD capacity, commencing commercial production in the first quarter of the fiscal year 2023, marking its entry into the biofuels sector.
