Birla Cotsyn (India) Ltd, a part of the Yash Birla Group, was originally established as Jamod Ginning Company Private Limited in 1941 by Mr. R.D. Birla. Over the years, the company has evolved from its initial operations in cotton ginning, pressing, and oil expelling to manufacturing synthetic yarn after acquiring Khamgaon Syntex (I) Ltd's assets in 2006. This acquisition enabled the company to utilize a spindle capacity of 18,304 spindles.
In 2006, Birla Cotsyn entered a joint venture with P.B. Bharadwaj Group, sharing promoter equity equally, which facilitated its expansion plans. The company is currently setting up a cotton spindle yarn manufacturing unit with 36,000 spindles, and an open-end rotor-based cotton yarn facility with 1,728 rotors. Additionally, it aims to manufacture finished cloth through a dyeing and processing unit, with a capacity of 50,000 meters per day, and weaving grey fabric using 114 looms.
