Bharat Immunologicals and Biologicals Corporation Limited (BIBCOL) is a Central Public Sector Unit under India's Department of Biotechnology. Established in 1989, BIBCOL specializes in manufacturing Oral Polio Vaccine (OPV), Zinc Tablets, and Diarrhea Management Kits, with a production facility located in Bulandshahr, Uttar Pradesh. Initial commercial production of OPV began in January 1996, and the company has secured substantial orders from India's Ministry of Health and Family Welfare for the national immunization program.
In 2006, BIBCOL's facility was upgraded to comply with WHO cGMP standards and the revised Drugs & Cosmetics Act. The company transitioned from tOPV to bOPV in 2016 and expanded its product range to include plasma-derived medicines and oral cholera vaccines. BIBCOL is also investing in R&D to develop a hepatitis B vaccine through technology transfer from the US, indicating its commitment to expanding its vaccine portfolio.
