About Bharat Coking Coal Ltd Bharat Coking Coal Limited (BCCL) is a Miniratna Public Sector Undertaking and a 100% subsidiary of Coal India Limited, a Government of India enterprise. Established in January 1972, BCCL specializes in mining and supplying coking coal from mines located primarily in Jharia, Jharkhand, and Raniganj, West Bengal. These coalfields were nationalized on October 16, 1971, to ensure the strategic and planned development of India's limited coking coal resources. BCCL is headquartered at Koyla Nagar, Dhanbad, and primarily operates in Jharkhand with marginal operations in West Bengal. BCCL’s portfolio includes various grades of coking coal, non-coking coal, and washed coals, which are vital for steel production and power generation. The company plays a key role in India’s coal industry, producing a major portion of the country’s coking coal. In 2018, BCCL launched the 1.6 MTPS Dahibari non-linked washery for coal processing and continuously modernized its production processes. This included integrating heavy earth-moving machinery (HEMM) in 2021. BCCL introduced highwall mining technology in 2022 at the Amalgamated Block-II Open Cast Project (ABOCP) to enhance coal extraction efficiency. As of March 31, 2025, the company operates 32 mines, including 3 underground mines, 25 opencast mines, and 4 mixed mines. BCCL has significantly ramped up production, increasing output from 30.51 MT in 2022 to 40.50 MT by 2025, reflecting growth potential fueled by improved operational capabilities. BCCL is pursuing an IPO, offering 465.7 million equity shares at a face value of ₹10 per share through an Offer for Sale, aiming to attract investors and further capitalize on its strategic role in India's mining sector. With a strong operational network and upward production trajectory, BCCL holds growth prospects in key industrial markets.
