About Bannari Amman Sugars Ltd Bannari Amman Sugars Limited (BASL), part of the Bannari Amman Group, is a prominent industrial conglomerate in South India, engaged in sugar production, distilleries, granite exports, and co-generation of power. Established in 1983, BASL has expanded its operations significantly, with its first sugar plant set up in Tamil Nadu and further expansions into Karnataka. The company also ventured into citric acid manufacturing and granite exports, acquiring several quarries across multiple states. BASL has developed substantial co-generation power capabilities, with plants in both Tamil Nadu and Karnataka, totaling 56 MW. The company also entered wind power generation, commissioning wind turbines in Tamil Nadu. Strategic mergers, such as with Coimbatore Alcohol and Chemicals Limited and Maheswara Sugars Limited, have facilitated growth, expanding its sugar production capacity to 7500 TCD in Karnataka and introducing a new sugar factory in Thiruvannamalai with 5000 TCD capacity. BASL continues to play a significant role in the sugar and renewable energy sectors in the region.
