About B C C Fuba India Ltd BCC Fuba India Ltd, established in September 1985, is a key player in the printed circuit board (PCB) manufacturing sector, specializing in single-sided, double-sided, and multilayered PCBs (up to 8 layers). Initially promoted by D R Bhagat and associates with German partners Fuba Hans Kolbe & Co and DEG, BCC entered the Indian market in 1990 and became the largest PCB manufacturer in Europe. Despite its robust manufacturing capacity—3000 sq meters annually for multilayer boards, 14,600 sq meters for double-sided, and 5800 sq meters for single-sided boards—BCC Fuba faced substantial financial challenges.
By March 1996, more than half of the company's peak net worth had eroded due to factors like a breached 75% buy-back agreement by its foreign collaborator, low domestic demand, and intense competition. Consequently, the firm incurred losses over five years, leading to its classification as a sick company and referral to the Board for Industrial and Financial Reconstruction (BIFR).
