About Andrew Yule & Company Ltd Andrew Yule & Company Ltd. (AYCL) is a government-owned enterprise involved in the manufacturing and sale of black tea, electrical equipment such as transformers and circuit breakers, and industrial fans. The company operates from two units in West Bengal and Tamil Nadu and manages 12 tea estates in Assam, Dooars, and Darjeeling. Initially established in 1919 as a private entity, AYCL transformed into a public limited company in 1948 and became a central public sector enterprise in 1979, with the Indian government currently holding a 97.46% stake.
AYCL has diversified its operations over the years, receiving ISO certifications for its tea and electrical divisions. In recent restructuring efforts, it spun off its electrical and heavy engineering businesses into subsidiaries and underwent mergers to streamline operations. The company remains under the administration of the Ministry of Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises, focusing on both engineering and tea production sectors.
