About Amal Ltd Amal Ltd, established in 1974 and located in Ankleshwar, Gujarat, specializes in manufacturing and marketing bulk chemicals such as Sulphuric Acid and Oleum, along with their derivatives like Sulphur Dioxide and Sulphur Trioxide. Initially promoted by the Piramal Group, it was acquired by Atul Ltd of the Lalbhai Group in the mid-1980s. Amal is a prominent manufacturer and exporter of dye-intermediates, serving markets in Russia, the US, Europe, and Asia, while maintaining a strong domestic presence.
The company has diversified into agro-chemical intermediates and expanded its production capabilities in Ankleshwar and Roha. Despite facing financial challenges and being declared sick by the Board of Industrial and Financial Reconstruction in 2006, Amal has continued to enhance its production facilities, including the operationalization of its Sulphuric Acid plant and establishment of new plants. In 2020, Amal formed a wholly-owned subsidiary, Amal Speciality Chemicals Ltd, to further expand its specialty chemicals portfolio.
