Snapdeal Limited, formerly Jasper Infotech Private Limited, was incorporated in New Delhi in 2007. It became Snapdeal Private Limited in 2019 and was converted into a public limited company under its current name in December 2021. Co-founded by Kunal Bahl and Rohit Kumar Bansal, the business evolved from a coupon booklet venture in 2007 to an online deals platform in 2010 and an e-commerce marketplace in 2012.
The company operates an e-commerce platform focused on value-conscious consumers. Its product categories include fashion, home and general merchandise, beauty and personal care, and other lifestyle products. Snapdeal connects buyers with sellers offering affordable, trend-oriented merchandise and supports transactions through technology-enabled fulfillment, data analytics and customer support. Its platform is designed to provide discovery-led shopping journeys and access to aspirational products without the premium associated with expensive or branded offerings.
Snapdeal has expanded its capabilities through acquisitions and investments in logistics, delivery, e-commerce solutions and related businesses, including Vulcan Express, Unicommerce, Newfangled Internet and several delivery and technology companies. In April 2021, it removed certain shipping and cash-on-delivery charges and introduced free shipping for buyers to support growth in delivered units. The company also markets its services in English and multiple Indian languages.
Snapdeal is planning an initial public offering comprising a fresh issue intended to raise Rs. 1,250 crore and an offer for sale of up to 30,769,600 equity shares.
