About Spel Semiconductor Ltd Spel Semiconductor Limited (SSL), previously known as Spic Electronics and Systems Ltd, was established in December 1984 and converted into a public company in March 1986. Promoted by Southern Petrochemical Industries, it is India's first and exclusive semiconductor IC Assembly & Test facility located in Chennai. The company focuses on manufacturing integrated circuits and provides comprehensive turnkey solutions, including wafer sort, assembly, testing, and drop-shipment services to enhance customer product launch timelines. SSL offers additional services such as package design, failure analysis, and test program development, and possesses significant power redundancy capabilities. SSL's packaging capabilities include Leaded and QFN packages, with plans to introduce advanced packages. It has a technical collaboration with Computer Resources, US, and operates as a 100% Export Oriented Unit under the Electronics Hardware Technology Park Scheme. SPEL America, Inc., a subsidiary, was established in California in 2005, with further expansion through SPEL Semiconductor Packaging Limited in 2017-18.
