About NTPC Green Energy Ltd NTPC Green Energy Limited (NGEL) is a wholly owned subsidiary of NTPC Limited, a Maharatna Central Public Sector Enterprise (CPSE). Established on April 7, 2022, NGEL focuses on power generation through renewable energy sources, including solar, wind, hydro, biomass, and other green energy technologies. The company is aimed at promoting sustainable energy production and has built an extensive portfolio of renewable energy assets across more than six states in India. By 2023, NGEL acquired 15 renewable energy assets with a combined capacity of 2,861 MW and equity shareholding in NTPC Renewable Energy Limited. Notably, NTPC Renewable Energy Limited launched its first wind project (50 MW) at Dayapar, Gujarat. Furthermore, a strategic joint venture with Indian Oil Corporation Limited, 'Indian Oil NTPC Green Energy Private Limited' (INGEL), was established, focusing on developing both grid-connected and off-grid renewable energy projects. In 2024, the company commissioned a 40 MW solar photovoltaic project in Ayodhya and a 150 MW solar plant in Chhatargarh, Rajasthan, further expanding its renewable energy footprint. These projects contribute to its growing renewable capacity and align with India’s energy transition goals. In pursuit of growth and funding expansion, NGEL plans to raise Rs. 10,000 crore through an Initial Public Offering (IPO). This would help the company expand its operations and further establish its presence as a key player in India’s renewable energy sector. Investors may find NGEL appealing given its strong project pipeline, strategic partnerships, and support from a prominent CPSE parent company.
